Allumbaugh House

"We all benefit by helping our citizens escape the cycle of substance abuse. We save money by lowering the burden on law enforcement and corrections: we cut bureaucracy by reducing strain  on social services; most important, we help families by keeping children with their parents and out of foster care. Allumbaugh House is a major step for our community." Boise Mayor David Bieter

The Community Detox and Crisis Mental Health Center highlight's:

  • It is the first project of its type in the State of Idaho and is designed as a prototype for communities in other regions of the State.
  • As an original member of the Mayor's Community Detox Steering Committee, United Way of Treasure Valley served as the fiscal agent for the purpose of identifying and applying for grants to fund both the construction and operation of this project.
  • The governing body of the project is comprised of the following members: Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, Ada County, cities of Boise, Meridian and Eagle; Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center; St. Luke's; and United Way of Treasure Valley.
  • As owners of the land and building, Boise City/Ada County Housing Authority is a member of the governing body in an ex-officio capacity.
  • It provides sobering station services 48-hours per week, 12-beds of medically monitored substance abuse detoxification services 24-hours per day 7-days per week, and 8-beds of emergency mental health services 24-hours per day 7-days per week to low-income, non-incarcerated adults.
