United Way of Treasure Valley announces 2010-11 Campaign Chair
Boise, Idaho – United Way of Treasure Valley announced today that Laura Cobb, Vice President of Public Relations and Community Development at Citi Cards in Meridian, will chair the 2010-2011 United Way Community Campaign. The campaign will kick-off on August 26 with a flapjack feed outside at the Boise Centre on the Grove Plaza.
As a result of the 2009-2010 campaign, United Way Community Fund investments directly touched the lives of over 40,000 low income individuals in the Treasure Valley. More than 15,000 Treasure Valley residents donate annually to United Way, the only local charity dedicated to the prevention of need by addressing its root cause through collaborative, innovative initiatives in education, health, and financial stability. One hundred percent of Community Fund donations are invested exclusively in the Treasure Valley.
Cobb says, "It's a privilege to serve in this role on behalf of United Way. I look forward to educating our community about the increasing issues related to poverty and engaging the support of individuals and businesses so, together, we can reduce the associated risks for our most vulnerable residents."
Cobb has been actively involved in the work of United Way as a Board member and workplace Employee Campaign Coordinator since 1997. She is currently serving her third three-year term on the Board, where she has served as Marketing Chair (2003-04, 2006-07), Marketing Co-Chair (2005-06), Women’s Initiative group member, and as a volunteer review team member. In 2005, Cobb joined Citi Cards as an executive in its 1,400-employee call center located in Meridian. Citi supports the community through substantial volunteer hours and grants that go directly to helping those who need it the most.
