United Way Loyal Contributor Profile: Theresa Browne, Hero
|
Theresa Browne has been loyally contributing to United Way for 30 years. She has volunteered for United Way through her company, Intermountain Gas, and has gotten dirty as a United Way DIRT Clod. Currently, Theresa volunteers her time with us as an Education Vision Council member, helping to guide and hold accountable our community education investments.
Last year, Theresa was selected to serve as a Loaned Executive (LE) for the United Way campaign. LEs are volunteers who help run United Way campaigns at nearly 300 workplaces in a three month period. They learn about United Way, then they hit the ground running, telling their own United Way story to hundreds of people throughout the community. For Theresa, sharing her story was another kind of gift to United Way.
Like the other LEs, she prepared a speech for her presentations, but Theresa's speech was different. She shared her personal story publicly for the first time. In part because of her challenging experience as a child, Theresa donates to United Way because she knows her gift is helping people who need it.
In celebration of Theresa and the other loyal contributors like her, we are launching a Loyal Contributor Tribute Garden, a community garden that will support our community through what it produces.
Thank you, Theresa and fellow Loyal Contributors, for tending to the garden of our community. We are all the better for it.

Community Assessment Survey: Advocate by Sharing Your Voice
|
|
United Way of Treasure Valley works year-round to focus on what is most important to the Treasure Valley in the areas of Education, Financial Independence and Health. We use innovative, collaborative and sustainable strategies to establish our goals.
In order to identify and measure the challenges around which our work is focused, we are launching the 2011 Community Impact Plan. This is a four phase plan that begins with a community-wide assessment to create a centralized inventory of the community's most pressing needs.
United Way of Treasure Valley leads this effort in partnership with Saint Alphonsus Health System, St. Luke's Health System and our research partner, Boise State University.
We invite you to participate in the first phase of this important plan by completing the stakeholder survey (link below). More than 700 individuals have answered this call. Will you? Please take a moment to ADVOCATE by providing your feedback today.
