United Way’s 10th annual Flapjack Feed fundraiser set for Aug. 10
More than 1,200 attended last year’s pancake breakfast
BOISE, Idaho — United Way of Treasure Valley’s 10th annual Flapjack Feed breakfast is set for Thursday, Aug. 10, launching United Way’s 2017-18 community fundraising campaign.
The Flapjack Feed will run from 7:30-10 a.m. at the Basque Block in Boise. The event is open to the public. Admission is a $7 suggested donation.
“We always look forward to the Flapjack Feed,” said Nora Carpenter, president and CEO of United Way of Treasure Valley. “This event gives us a chance to bring everyone together, have a fun breakfast and kick off our annual fundraising efforts.”
Proceeds from the Flapjack Feed support United Way’s Community Fund, which stays locally to fund programs that help children and families in the areas of health, education and financial stability.
More than 1,200 people attended last year’s Flapjack Feed. This year’s menu includes pancakes, fresh fruit from Albertsons, potatoes from the J.R. Simplot Company, eggs, coffee, juice and tea from Bigelow Tea.
United Way will have several ‘celebrity flippers’ making the pancakes, including Boise Mayor Dave Bieter and Caldwell Mayor Garret Nancolas.
“This is an awesome community celebration,” said Diana Lachiondo, director of community partnerships for the City of Boise and United Way board member. “It is a way for our community to come together and celebrate what it means to live in the Treasure Valley, to kick off the school year and raise donations for United Way’s work in our communities.”
Volunteers will sell raffle tickets throughout the morning, with a chance to win a variety of items, including two roundtrip airfare tickets on Alaska Airlines and tickets to a Boise State football game, along with a football autographed by former Bronco standout quarterback and current Dallas Cowboy Kellen Moore.
Raffle tickets are one for $5 or five for $20. The full list of raffle prizes is available at UnitedWayTV.org.
Flapjack Feed sponsors include Gardner Company, Albertsons, J.R. Simplot Co., U.S. Bank, KTVB Channel 7, Idaho Statesman, PacificSource Health Plans, City of Boise, Regence Blue Shield of Idaho, Citi and Blue Cross of Idaho.
