When you’re low income, prioritizing spending is a must. And for many people living in the Treasure Valley, books don’t make the list of things families need to get by. Providing a wealth of books to children in low-income homes can help break the link between poverty and poor academic outcomes. Join us and make a difference today.
How can I help give books to low-income kids?
March 28th-April 3rd: United Way Children’s Book Drive
Collect new and gently used children's books the week of March 28th - April 3rd. It's easy and we have all the materials you need! Just put out a big box at your workplace, school, church, or other places where community members gather, attach a book collection sign to the box, hang a few posters and watch the books roll in! Then, on April 7th or 8th between 10am-8pm, bring the books to United Way's book collection facility locate at 8740 Fairview Avenue in Boise.
April 7th – 9th: United Way Book Bash
Have you ever wondered how all the tens of thousands of donated books get to the kids that need them? Well, it’s by volunteer power!
Join United Way of Treasure Valley and bring your friends, family, and co-workers for a few hours of volunteering fun. Meet amazing people, enjoy music, and snacks while you help us clean, sort, and pack book orders. Click here to sign up to volunteer.
