Things are heating up at UWTV!

Things are heating up at UWTV this summer! We have been busy with so many projects:

Women United Mix & Mingle, powered by United Way: a couple of times a year, we round up some of the most charismatic women in the community (along with some really cool dudes) to epitomize “social service”. With something tasty in one hand, and a task in the other, we build things like dental kits, snack packs, feminie hygiene bags and more, all to benefit homeless students and low income families.

Book and a Bite, powered by United Way, Community Schools, and RISE: every Tuesday during the summer, these fantastic entities get together to be sure kids are surviving what we call the “summer slip”. When school is out, kids aren’t reading as much, often putting them behind when another school year starts, and some kids even lose access to their most immediate source of food. So this brings reading and feeding together in one location to serve the greatest population possible in one fail swoop. We like to think of it as “two butterflies with one net”!

Volunteer Activities, supported by United Way. Every now and then, a special project pops up and we need a special group of helpers to give us a hand. Medtronic reached out looking for something to do and we had the perfect thing! After the Women United Mix & Mingle, we had a lot of stuff to put away; dishes, wine glasses, decorations, and tons of hygiene and snack bags. We put their group to work and in less than two hours, our office was spic and span. Thank you, Medtronic!
