Meet Adah Elliott, Chair of the Women United Events Committee!

Adah ElliottWhat brought you to the United Way?

About five years ago one of my coworkers/friends asked me to take over our United Way of Treasure Valley Workplace Campaign. She thought I would enjoy it! What I have enjoyed is meeting all the kind-hearted people who work and volunteer with the United Way of Treasure Valley. As the years have gone by, I find myself getting more involved in events and Women United, especially as I learn more about the needs in our community and the opportunities to be supportive and helpful.

How long and in what capacity have you been involved?

I have donated through workplace campaigns for years. However, I really never knew much about the United Way. Through leading my workplace campaign, I have become more involved. I try to volunteer whenever possible, whether it is the Book Drive, Holiday Helper, the School Pantry, or whatever comes up. Through each volunteer opportunity, I learn more about the needs of our communities and how the United Way champions to meet those needs.

What area(s) are you most passionate about?

Kids and Education. Without a good education, students miss opportunities. The United Way of Treasure Valley does so much to support the learning of our students, whether is it is helping to keep kids fed, give them books, help with housing, and so much more. I am very grateful for the Community School Strategy and volunteer at Taft Elementary helping their Community School Coordinator. Giving youth in our community the best opportunities drives me to volunteer and invest my time to help.

Tell us more about you:

I have lived in the Treasure Valley since 2003, but I am a native Idahoan, having grown up in the Moscow area. I still have families ties to Moscow. And yes, I am a Vandal! My only daughter/child is also a Vandal. My partner of 21 years, Eric is also a Vandal! I enjoy being outdoors, especially digging in my flower beds. There is always room for one more plant! I'm also an animal lover and volunteer at the Idaho Humane Society. I enjoy taking my dog on walks, spending time with family, crafting with friends, going to plays, traveling and volunteering. One day I hope to be a grandparent!
