We are so pumped to continue introducing you to our DREAM TEAM of a United Way Campaign Cabinet! Today, you get to meet Angelique Rood from Idaho Power.
Tell us about being on the Campaign Cabinet. What motivated you to want to get involved?
I was born and raised in the Treasure Valley. This is my home. I’ve watched our community grow and prosper over the past 30 years, yet so many families in the Treasure Valley are struggling with issues like poverty, mental health, and a lack of access to early childhood education. I believe that together, as a community, we can do better. I feel like the Campaign Cabinet will challenge me to really make a difference for the community that raised me.
There are so many ways to give back and be involved with charitable organizations. Why do you choose United Way?
The United Way’s mission speaks to me. It’s all about giving a hand up, not a hand out. I want to be part of the solution. I can’t imagine a better way to give back to the community that has given so much to me.
Tell us a little about your role with your organization and what you do!
For the past 13 years, I’ve been fortunate enough to work for Idaho Power Company. As a Regional Manager, it’s my job to lead and support the hard working and dedicated employees of our Canyon West region. Our team ensures we’re providing reliable energy services, promptly meeting our customers’ needs, and actively engaging in the communities we serve.
What are you doing when you’re not working your tail off at your place of employment or for United Way?
My husband and our four children are truly my ‘why’. We love spending time enjoying all Idaho has to offer. You’ll usually find us skiing, hiking, camping, fishing, or working on our small family farm.
