People’s heads are spinning at the unprecedented growth occurring in our valley right now. Our population is sky-rocketing, the cost of housing is soaring, traffic is becoming increasingly difficult to navigate, and the pace in our “it used to take 10 minutes to get everywhere” city is changing every day.
United Way exists to fight poverty, and with the influx of people entering the valley, the crisis of poverty will continue to rise, as not everyone coming to the valley is coming with loads of cash in hand. Many people have been priced out of their own communities, and like all of us, just want a better quality of life. Which means the demand of our work will continue to increase in every capacity; from the programs we offer to the work we fund. From the partnerships we build to the advocacy, systems, and policy work we do. Even in the food and hygiene pantries we work to keep stocked for local homeless students.
In the past, we have relied on a few Loaned Executives to assist us through the fundraising season. Campaign season (the fundraising season) is when the United Way staff is ‘boots on the ground’ in our fundraising efforts for months on end, beginning in August and lasting through the end of the year. But this year, we aren’t messing around. We have decided to bring out the biggest guns we have…this is where you have to imagine a drumroll…
We are so very pleased, excited, ecstatic, and honored to announce our very-first-in-25-years UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN CABINET! We have gathered 12 of the most influential, passionate, well-connected, brilliant people in the Treasure Valley to light a fire under our campaign this year! These 12 incredible people will be working along-side our staff (and have been behind the scenes for months now) to KICK THINGS UP A NOTCH! We have no time to waste and not a penny to spare. United Way of Treasure Valley recognizes our community’s needs are bigger than ever and we are answering that call. But we need your help. It takes a community.
Because this is more than a fundraising campaign. This is our community’s future. It’s our community’s time to lift children and families up and out of need. It’s time to change the odds.
