Meet Mindi McAllaster, Campaign Cabinet Vice-Chair!

Mindi McAllasterRemember the amazing Mindi McAllaster from a few months back? Well she's so amazing, we just couldn't resist asking her to be part of our Dream-Team-Campaign-Cabinet for the 2019-20 Fundraising season! Mindi is serving on this prestigious committee as one of our vice-chairs.

Tell us about being on the Campaign Cabinet. What motivated you to want to get involved?
I initially got involved with United Way almost two decades ago when I lived in Oregon. When I moved back to my hometown of Boise after a 23 year hiatus, I wanted to get reintroduced to this "new" Treasure Valley. I've always felt that the best way to know your community is to jump into the volunteer world. It is here where you meet your neighbors. Being involved with the Children's Book Drive, as a Loaned Executive, Women United, and the Financial Stability Grant committee has given me such joy over the years that, of course I said "Yes" when United Way asked me to be a part of the Campaign Cabinet. Thousands and thousands of people have volunteered their time, talent, and treasure to United Way in our community since 1928. It's simply my turn to be a part of that legacy.

There are so many ways to give back and be involved with charitable organizations. Why do you choose United Way?
Prior to my current career, I came from a non-profit background. When I initially volunteered with United Way of Treasure Valley, I was so impressed with the way this organization is run! I'm constantly in awe of UWTV's ability to mobilize, coordinate, and convene the power of volunteers. As a donor, I feel that my dollars are being put to their highest and best use. I'm proud to invest in UWTV's smart, holistic, data driven approach to solving complex community issues.

Tell us a little about your role with your organization and what you do!
I am an Associate Broker and Managing Partner at Windermere Real Estate Professionals. I represent buyers and sellers in Residential Real Estate as well as help recruit and train new agents.

What are you doing when you’re not working your tail off at your place of employment or for United Way?
I try to grab some time with my favorite person in the world, Wes McAllaster, who also has a busy life as a teacher and a baseball coach. We've been happily married for 24 years! When we can get our schedules to coincide, we work on our yard, our house, and head to the beach.
