- 61% of families dealing with financial instability lack books in the home for children. We’re aiming to fill that gap and improve the odds for these children.
- Reading proficiently by the end of 3rd grade is the single most important indicator for a child's success.
- In 2022, only 60.4 percent of Idaho’s third graders were reading at grade level, according to the Idaho Reading Inventory.
- Students in families experiencing a low-income have greater summer learning loss than their peers in higher-income families.
- Providing a wealth of books to children in families experiencing financial instability can help break the link between poverty and poor academic outcomes.
How Can You Help?
March 11th – 29th
Collect new or very gently used children’s books.
Engage your workplace, school, church.
Deliver collected books to a designated collection site (listed below).
April 1st - April 5th
Volunteer to sort, clean, package and deliver books!
